Initial responsibilities; Project Management Architect for phase 1 of Runcorn New Town housing scheme, an in situ and precast concrete design. Duties included site supervision and project management, and later design and co-ordination of play areas and landscaping. The scheme was later extended by the New Town Development Corporation by an additional two phases running approximately concurrently. The 770 dwelling phase 1 was extended by a modified design of 320 dwellings and an additional phase of 225 2 and 3 storey dwellings of timber frame g.r.p. clad design.

Appointed Overall Project/Design Manager for 1350 dwelling Runcorn Housing scheme, approx. value £12.5m.
Made Associate of practice. Duties included supervision and direction of design, performance specification and performance drawings, co-ordination of Consultants and Design Team, Client liaison, inspection of Contractor's production drawings and work on site through to completion.Worked with Partners on design of Secretariat and Conference Centre for United Nations Environment Program, Nairobi, Kenya. Scheme produced in association with Giancarlo de Carlo of Milan and Mutiso Menezes of Nairobi.

1977
Appointed Design and Management Co-ordinator of winning competition scheme for the extension of the Staatsgalerie Art Museum, Stuttgart, West Germany. The scheme included permanent and temporary exhibition space, experimental theatre, music school, library, administration facility and underground car park. Net area 17 000 m2 construction, stone clad reinforced concrete. Estimated final cost approximately £21.5M. Responsibilities included co-ordination of architectural staff in London and Stuttgart (10 in London and 8 in Stuttgart) and British and German Structural Engineers and Services consultants, cost control with Client's Architect's department and representing the practice in meetings with Client and Users.

1980
The practice won an international competition for the design of a Science and Research Centre in West Berlin, consisting of administrative and research offices, executive directors department, conference facilities and underground car park. Estimated cost £8.5M. Construction - stone clad reinforced concrete. Appointed Project Manager for this project in addition to the Stuttgart Art Museum project. Responsibilities included design and co-ordination, contract and fee negotiation, project costing and programming, and setting up a Berlin office.

Responsible for design research, design of dwellings and layout and presentation to client. Scheme consisted of 125 dwellings of 3 types, community and NAAFI facilities. During this period also responsible for design and working drawings for offices and stores complex for Bulford Army Barracks, Salisbury Plain for Ministry of Defense.
